In this article we will go over every single way you can get from Bangkok to Koh Phangan. Let’s begin.
✈️ By Flight

The best and fastest way is to fly from Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi Airport) to Koh Samui via Bangkok Airways. The flight is around 1 hour and 5 minutes. After you land, you can take a boat from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan, the trip is around 30 minutes.
The first flight of the day departs at 06:00 AM. while the last flight departs at 8:50 PM.

After you land, you can take a boat by Lomprayah to Koh Phangan from. I uploaded a screenshot of the timetable below.
If you want to save some money, but still arrive on the same day, then you can take a flight with Airasia from DMK Airport to Suratthani Airport (around 1 hour 10 minutes).
After you land, you can take a bus from Suratthani Airport to Donsak Pier. The trip is around 1 hour 30 minutes. After you reach the pier, you will take a boat from Donsak Pier to Koh Phangan (Thong Sala Pier), the duration is around 2 hours 30 minutes. Usually at the airport you can buy a joint ticket for the bus/ferry. I recommend highly Raja Ferry.

🚌 🚤 By Bus & Boat
Option 1. Songserm Company

The bus leaves from Bangkok (Khaosan Road Area) around 6 pm. You will reach the island next day around 12:15 pm. The price is around 900 THB per adult. Option 2. Lomphrayah Catamaran


This company operated 2 times per day, in the morning and in the evening. They will pick you up from Khaosan Road, here are details: https://www.lomprayah.com/
Option 3. The Government Bus

If you prefer to journey by yourself, you can take the government bus from the Southern Bus Station. If you worry that the seat it not too convenient or not enough space, you can choose V.I.P 24 which means there are only 24 seats on the entire bus, giving you the ultimate comfort for the overnight journey. Around midnight the bus will stop at the restaurant for dinner. You get this dinner for free as it’s included in your ticket.
In the morning you will arrive at Suratthani Bus Station. From there, you can buy a joint ticket for bus/boat to Koh Phangan.
🚂 By Train

If you have time, the most comfortable way to get to Koh Phangan is by train. To do this you can go through an agent, you will most likely pay a commission for their services, or you can go directly to the Train Station (Hualampong Station) to buy the ticket. From my personal experience, I would recommended Train No. 85 which departs from Bangkok at 19:30 and arrives the next day at 07:10 am (this is a first class sleeper with air condition). After you get off at Suratthani Train station, you can buy a joint bus/boat ticket to Koh Phangan .
